Nice Weather, Time for a Walk

The weather has been nice the last few days so we've been taking Allie for walks around the neighborhood. It allows us to unwind and Allie to get some of her energy out.

Time for a break...

St Paddy's Dog

We headed down to the M Streets (on Greenville) to hang out with the Hyatt's for St Patrick's Day. We thought the car sickness was behind us but we were proved otherwise. She got sick once in the car on the way down. After a quick cleaning, we enjoyed our day watching the crazy's strolling/wobbling along Greenville. Thanks to Benton, Carli and Haven for having us over!

"Allie, you know you're not suppose to go up there."

"Come get me then!"

Visitors

Throughout February and March, Allie has gotten to meet some members of the family. One Sunday afternoon my dad came over for lunch and to meet her. This was her first experience with anyone other than us and the vet. She was a little shy and anxious at first but began to warm up and became more herself.

The last weekend in February, Christie, Braxton and my mom came in to town to celebrate birthdays and to meet Allie. She did so well playing with Braxton. I was a little nervous before hand since she'd not been around any kids yet and I wasn't sure how she'd act.
Braxton also had this long tube thing that he and Allie loved running through.

On Friday night the girls ventured out for a birthday celebration while Brett babysat Braxton. (I have the best husband ever!!!) We went to a Italian restaurant in the Shops of Legacy. We had a great meal and enjoyed a martini or two!
Brett was in Lubbock for class on Sunday so my mom went with me to Allie's first puppy training class at Petsmart. She did so good and really impressed us!! I don't want to brag but I think she might have been one of the better ones in the class.

The first week in March, we got a surprise call from John. He was in town for work and had a night he could get away. He so kindly drove from Grapevine to take us to dinner and meet Allie. It was such a nice surprise and we really enjoyed getting to catch up!

We can't wait for the rest of the family to meet Allie!

February Pics

Brett bought Allie a soccer ball and it became a quick favorite. She loves to pick it up and carry it around the yard (expect for when I tried to get it on camera)! "You expect me to play with this? It's bigger than me!"

It's a rare moment when she sits down for a minute to relax. Those moments don't last long so I have to enjoy them when I get them.
There's always time for a hug!

Snow!!

In February, Allie got to experience her first snow. At first she didn't really know what to think about it...

Then she decided to dive right in...
And finally ready to go back inside...

Settling In

Here are some pictures from Allie's first few days as a Butler...

Newest Addition to the family...

Allie! At the end of January we spent a fun filled day traveling across North Texas to find our perfect puppy. Our trip took us through McKinney, Midlothean, Fort Worth, Azle, Cleburne, and finally Blum, TX. We went to about 5 breeders before finding success in Blum, which is 2 hours from McKinney (more on that later)! Once we saw her we new immediately that she was the one. She was more money than we wanted to spend so we left the breeder to discuss the purchase. Once we talked about it we knew we had to go back and get her. Brett called the breeder back and negotiated the cost down to our price range. She's a pure breed German Shepherd and was 8 weeks old and 9 pounds when we found her. To give a little background on her family, her grandfather (mother's side) was a Seach and Rescue dog on duty during the 911 World Trade Center disaster. Her grandfather (father's side) was on Walker Texas Ranger (word is he taught Chuck Norris how to do a round-house kick).
We thought we had come prepared with some old sheets & towels for the long ride home. We got her settled in my lap for the long drive and made our way out of town. We were only a few miles from the breeder when Allie got car sick. Not a good start! I wish I could say that was the only time, but she had problems the whole ride home. Needless to say, both of us were in need of a good shower when we were finally home.
